Android Circuit is here to remind you of a few of the many things that have happened around Android in the last week (and you can find the weekly Apple news digest here).
This Galaxy Note 7 Is Not For You
Although the Note 7 was announced with 64GB of internal storage and 4GB of memory, Samsung is working on a ‘monster’ version of the phablet that sports 6GB of memory and a hefty 128 GB of internal storage. But as Chris Smith eloquently put its… Samsung says you can’t have it:
[Samsung Mobile's DJ Koh] finally confirmed the phone will launch in China while speaking at the Galaxy Note 7’s launch event in Seoul. “It is true that we are reviewing the rollout of a new tablet with 128-gigabyte built-in memory in China because Chinese companies are aggressively doing marketing with high-capacity memory,” Koh said told reporters, according to The Korea Herald.
As it stands no other territory is expected to receive this variant, but if there’s enough noise and operator demand that could change.
Todd Haselton also notes the change and suspects that this is a ‘specification bingo’ play to satisfy the local expectations, but it’s still going to leave a curious taste if you’re eager for the 64GB/4GB variant chosen for the rest of the world.
